About Jennie and Ruth

Dr Jennie Eeles

In my job in mental health services, I regularly help people to regulate their emotions and nervous systems in varied and practical ways. Over the last four years I have been exploring my own singing for regulation practice and am excited to be able to share my discoveries! The research into the application of polyvagal theory outlines how beneficial the use of voice, movement, breathing and grounding into the body are to regulation.

Join us to practice and learn how to do this for yourself.

Ruth Routledge

I met Jennie at the UK Vocal Improv Festival Retreat and discovered that we have a lot of common interests, namely being fascinated by the biological mechanisms which help us feel better after singing (when I say singing I really mean moving, breathing and using the voice, rather than singing songs).

This has led me to conducting research where I have encountered Polyvagal Theory, which explains the mind-body connection and how when we stimulate the vagus nerve (the largest cranial nerve connecting the brain with our major organs and the autonomic nervous system) we feel safe, calmer and more able to cope with the challenges the world throws at us.

This workshop aims to do just that leaving you feeling connected, calm and able to cope!
